You may have heard Clean Eating tossed around lately and wondered what it was– I’m here to help! This is a topic that I am personally passionate about since it has really transformed my health, and then in turn our lifestyle. I had always worked out at least 30 minutes a day 5 days a week, but it wasn’t until learning to meal plan, and incorporating clean eating principles that I saw major changes in myself.
The pictures below tell that story– we didn’t eat out, I cooked at home, and worked out, but still didn’t get the results I wanted! But as you can see, there is a marked difference and is didn’t come from dieting but rather a lifestyle shift! I am so thankful that I learned these principles when Caleb was just a baby, because it’s now the way that he’s been raised and I feel confident in my own nutrition as well as his! We haven’t deprived ourselves of things we love, we still absolutely have treats once in a while, but are just more aware of what we are putting in our bodies. It’s do-able, so don’t be afraid to try and see how you change too!
We’ve actually saved money and stress doing this, because I’m forced to really plan out what we eat and how much of it we need. So if you can take time to really do it right, you’ll be just fine!
So what is Clean Eating?
Your body is a reflection of what you put in it, so if you eat junk you will feel it and show it. Likewise, if you’re fueling your body with whole, healthy foods, you again will feel it and show it! Clean eating at it’s core is eating un-processed foods, whole grains, lots of produce, and lean meats. You also may eat 5-6 smaller meals a day to keep your metabolism up and also buy items with very few, and very clear ingredients. You’ll also watch your portion sizes and try to get organic, non-GMO items as often as you can.
I know that it can be intimidating to get started with how to clean out your pantry, where and what to shop for and how to meal plan.
