Happy Monday– We are over half-way done with Hammer and Chisel (and spoiler alert, we’re totally doing another round, it’s just that fun!) I didn’t realize how much we had both changed until I was putting these before and after photos together for this post (scroll down to see our 30 day results). It’s definitely helped me stay motivated to keep pushing forward! I think sometimes we are afraid to try new things because of the odds that we may not succeed. Are you a perfectionist? I totally am! I don’t like to do things unless I can win or excel at them. I’m competitive and a high achiever and those are great qualities that help accomplish a lot but they have a dark side too. One of the things that I’ve been thinking about a lot lately is the concept of Failing Forward. You can mess up, struggle, or fail but if you’re moving forward it’s ok- you’ll make it! So today don’t be afraid to try- just the fact that you ARE is so good.
For me, pull-ups are something I just can’t do (so I’ve thought!) but my thoughtful in-laws got me this assist for Christmas and my husband is super encouraging! I am not that great at them, but am going to master these!
This week was a lot easier in terms of sticking with our meal plans– I would say we’ve stayed somewhere between 80%-90% on track with them overall. They say abs are made in the kitchen and I definitely think that’s a big part of the results we’ve both seen. Meal planning ahead has really been key for me and is a discipline that I’m not naturally good at but on that is becoming more natural as I practice it. Burpees also help you get results 😉
When we started, we forgot to take Ben’s meaurements, but he is on the “Maintain Plan” and is in calorie bracket F. He has gained about one pound total, but has definitely increased his muscle, which I think speaks to the accuracy and excellence of this program. When we finish this round in a couple weeks, we’ll be adding on the delux workouts and I think he may bump up to the build phase, but we’ll see. Also I just have to give him a major shout-out for letting me take AND post these– thanks Babe! I know this is never something you’d do on your own…also you’re looking really good!
I have lost 2 pounds and 4 inches total. I am on the “Lean Plan” and am in calorie bracket A. I was not trying to lose weight, but really wanted to tone up. I gain muscle easily and since I am short, I tend to bulk quickly which I was really nervous about. I’ve been SO happy with the results so far. I am so much stronger and have definitely put on a lot more muscle (hello shoulder muscles and hamstring muscles I’ve never seen before!), but the fact that I haven’t gained weight again speaks to the accuracy of the nutrition in this program. I’m not going to make any nutrition adjustments as we head into round two since this is exactly what I was hoping for!
30 DAY UPDATE
I can’t wait to see our 60 day results in a few weeks!
And finally our meal plan for this next week. One of the things that has helped the most for both of us, and enhanced our results has been drinking Shakeology consistently throughout it. It’s helped us both add protein and veggies when we need it and is a quick meal which has been a lifesaver since work has been crazy for both of us this week. Also, it isn’t packed with sugar like a lot of other shakes on the market– instead it’s full of insanely good for you superfoods! You can read more on why I love Shakeology so much here.
