Guess what time it is? Your weekly update on the Hammer and Chisel program (yay!) I know you’ve all been dying to read this right? Seriously though, you should join this party! I was telling Ben yesterday (which is our rest day), that I just wanted to go in the garage and do another workout, but I know I need to trust the process and take the rest days– it’s just that I love the workouts so much, I’m totally hooked!
We are definitely starting to see results in muscle gains and inches lost, but I’ll save the updates for another post. Because there are SO many different workouts, we are just now starting to repeat a couple and both have seen major improvements in our endurance and weights which is really encouraging as well, because let me tell you– these workouts make you leave it all on the floor!
Meal plan-wise, it’s going great. We are both much more used to what portion sizes we need to be watching for. We had a cheat day on Christmas, but that was planned and are back on track this week. One of the things I have loved most about clean eating is that my body can feel it when I don’t– so even though all the treats sound so good in the moment, they just aren’t worth going overboard on in the end. Having better self-control in that area has been a game-changer for me. I used to be a eat one cookie, eat the whole plate person– being able to fully enjoy one or two and leave the rest there is such a better mentality!
As you’ve probably caught on by now, the workouts vary from Hammer (heavy lifts) and Chisel (more cardio-based) workouts. The video below is part of the Chisel Agility workout we did on Christmas. Ben said it reminded him of his football drills– lots of fast footwork and forcing your brain to engage more too by switching directions and speeds.
And without further ado, here’s the meal plan for the week. Because I’m on vacation this week, I’ve got a little more time to do some cooking, so it looks a little different than the past weeks’. Also, because Ben eats so much more than I do, a lot of the left overs from the dinners, he’ll incorporate into his day (lucky duck!). Also, if you’re wondering where my Shakeology is, it’s coming! I ran out and can not wait for it to get here this week– seriously– I can tell when I haven’t had it during the day and will be happily chugging it down in the middle of the week!
