Well it’s Monday, which means it’s time for another update on how Ben and I are doing with Hammer and Chisel. I will be honest, last week we didn’t stick 100% to our meal plan…oops, but we’re starting fresh today and are going in focused and ready. It’s so important to not let a day or so of being off track get you discouraged or make you throw in the towel completely. You know your goals and what you need to do to be successful, so dust yourself off and start over. I can’t wait to see our results in a month or so, because as you can see, people have gotten such great ones!
Probably the best thing about this program is the variety– you alternate days between “Hammer” (more lifiting) workouts and “Chisel” (more cardio/plyometric) workouts, but even within those two categories the workouts vary hugely so you are constantly mixing it and keeping your muscles sharp. I have loved becoming so much more confident with lifts and the Agility workout reminded Ben of football drills (I learned I DO NOT have fancy footwork– it’s funny how pushing mentally can make the workout that much harder!). A tip for you– DO NOT SKIP THE WARMUPS OR COOL DOWNS! Your muscles will need them so much and because you are constantly switching workouts, they need the recovery. Can you tell which of us likes stretching more?!
Even thought this week is Christmas week, we will still be sticking to our meal plan and workout schedule. It honestly has been so fun to do together, even if it is early. We keep each other motivated and sharp. Quality time is always important in marriage! Our meal plan for this week is below. I’m allowing a few more cheats this week than normal, but they are planned. It’s just as important to enjoy time with family and friends as it is to stay healthy, so we’re planning out the treats we have so we can fully enjoy them and stay on track!

I promise you won’t be hungry on this program– if anything it’s hard to fit all the food in! It’s been delicious too– lots of protein and vegetables and whole foods. I LOVE having Shakeology every day, but especially with this program because I need the extra protein, and having a meal to not have to worry about makes things that much easier!
